Sorting out triggers

I posted this question in another thread, but it was off the topic of the thread, so I am going to post it here.

I have all these triggers written, but they affect every character.

When I multi-play, I only want the cleric to respond to some triggers and the tank to others.

How do I sort them, and how do I limit who sees which trigger?

Thanks

Create folders

put all of your TANK only trigs in one
you other characters in another
and the a folder for GENERAL the ones that coulod be used for both.

creat a trig or button to shut them on and off accordingly

what's your specific setup for multiplaying? When you multiplay, do you connect a different zmud character for each character you multiplay with (ie, one zmud character for your cleric, a different one for your mage, and a third one for your fighter) or do you choose a character from a list provided by the mud?

If you have one zmud character for each mud character you play with, it's probably a bit easier to go with inherited settings. The inherited part would be the stuff common to all your characters (gauges, status prompts, buttons, etc). The other settings specific to that character would be kept in a different file, thereby preventing any other character from using them.

If you only have two zmud characters that connect to the game to choose a character from a list, it's probably easier to manage a class structure like what megamog suggested. If you want to get really fancy, though, you can use the connection aliases to load and unload the proper settings file for whichever character you choose.

Well, I am not sure as to your exact meaning, but I usually click one of my characters, connect him, then click the Chars button at the top, then choose another character from my list. I have created a different ZMud icon for each character.

When your editing Triggers or alias for each character
The window title will say something like
Settings in Memory C:\Some\Fictional\Path.mud
if its the same for both characters then they're using the same settings files so any triggers made in one will load for both.
to change that
Connect to the mud using the Icon reserved for your cleric
then click Settings->Save As
then choose a unique name for the clerics settings for example
Cleric@YourMudName.mud
now Connect using your fighters icon and save his as a different name.
now when you edit a trigger using your clerics the Settings in Memory filename should be different. so you can remove the cleric triggers from the fighters and remove fighters from cleric.
After that when you make a trigger, variable etc for one character
it wont affect the other characters.

Thanks. -Dharkael- That was a great explanation. It helped, worked perfectly, and now I can not worry about spam central.
