zMUD and OSX: Mac mudclients and the lack thereof :(

I recently switched religions. I was once a die hard windows fanatic, not because I liked the operating system really but because it was all I knew. I used it for games mostly. zMUD was god.

Now, however, I am a mad addict. Got a sweet iBook and we're in love. First thing I did was set out to find mud clients. I only found disappointment. Then I realized something. I realized zMUD had been so good to me those 7 years of use on a windows machine, I began to question my allegience to my new religion.

I now supplement my addiction with a laborios helping of Virtual PC, running windows 2000. I only use it for one thing, zMUD. It's quite a round about way of doing one simple task: using the best mud client in the world.

So my question is, when is the best mud client in the world going to start supporting the mac community? There are no other mud clients for us in OSX right now, none with the features zMUD has to offer. zMUD could easily hold the market. Not because of marketing and malicious code, but because it's an awesome program with a plethra of features any mudder would want to utilize to get their game to that extra level.

In closing, zMUD is PURE SEX!!!!!! I love you Zugg for all the effort you put into the program and how you never gave up on the idea of a flexible program with many features. When will it be ported?

Heh, probably shortly after it's ported to Linux... which will be around about, never ;)

Rapscallion was the best MUD client I could find to use on my dad's mac, but it definately left things wanting.

I'd say serves you right for buying a mac (mostly because I'm bitter that my dad bought a multiprocessor G5 for himself, instead of a multiprocessor AMD 64 for me...) :)

Here's an idea for you tho... there's a program called 'synergy' (http://synergy2.sourceforge.net) that might help with your woes (depending on what you want to do)... but what you would do is drag out (or buy second hand) your old windows PC/laptop and sit it next to your new shiny mac, then you set up synergy and tell your old PC that your new Mac is the keyboard/mouse server...

It works really great, like having multi-monitor support, but two (or more) physical machines. At home I have a computer for Zmud and a computer for Everquest 2 and control the Zmud computer with the same keyboard and mouse as the EQ2 computer... all I do is move the mouse off the left hand side of the EQ2 screen onto the right hand side of the Zmud screen and away I go... plus it looks super-nerdy, having two monitors/etc all my friends are jealous >:)

You could do the same if you were a linux user, just set up your old Pentium 200 as a Zmud machine and your new sparkly linux box as the synergy server for that... sure you still have to have two screens and two computers, but you can pick up a second hand PC for next to nothing nowdays, and if all you need it to do is run Zmud, then you're away laughing :)

Rapscallion is a huge pile a dung. It can burn in hell with Hitler for being the equal nazi he was.

We need a zMUD port.
