eLicense Problem - Code 501

Hoi hoi.

Have had zMUD now since low 4.xx versions.
Had zMUD 6.xx installed on my father's computer from when I lived at home.
Moved away, was computerless for a while. Backed up my zmud.ini file as
that's how I've always kept my order ID and never had problems with it
before. Recently got a new computer, decided I'd try to get back into
MUDing, downloaded the new v7.02 and put my old zmud.ini file into its
directory, as this is how I transferred my order id the last time I upgraded
and I had no problems with it.

This time however, it didn't work. Okay, I figure maybe the format of the
ini file has changed, so I open up the old file and manually enter the ID
into the get license field. This time I get an error 501 that the order
ID is not in the eLicense database. Checked the eLicense faq, and they
mention two different formats that the ID should be in, and mine doesn't
match either.

So I searched through the forums and saw a mention of a new registration
code that was sent out, which I have vague memories of. I also realized
that I had two different installs of zMUD on my dad's computer (one current,
one that was a backup) and now I wonder if I grabbed the ini from the older
version. I believe that my father still has that computer and hasn't
gotten rid/formatted it or anything, so I will check on that, but it is a
bit of a trip for me and I don't know when I'll be able to get to his house.

Basically, is there anything that can be done for me at this point?
I have my copy of my old zMUD.ini with the order number it has, which I
would be happy to email in to someone at zuggsoft if they'd like to check it.
I remember recieving the new license number in my email address, so I should
be in the zuggsoft customer database.
Unfortunately, that's all the information I have about my purchase.
I talked my mom into buying it for me my sophomore year of highschool, which
was about eight years ago and no longer have any of the records from that time.
Any response would be appreciated, if worse comes to worse I'll have to re-buy
zMUD, which I can't really be annoyed at as I've gotten hundreds of hours of
enjoyment out of it. :)

Send us an email at support@zuggsoft.com with your reg code in it and we will try to help. We can't really help with reg code questions on a public forum like this. The 501 error means that you have made a typo entering your reg code or are entering the wrong reg code. The reg code was never stored in any ini file in the clear...it was always encoded. You'll need your reg code in the format it was sent to you via email when you first bought zMUD. But we can help you look it up if you email us. Even though our official policy states that we don't look up reg codes, we are pretty good about responding to polite emails Wink
