Repeated "Access Violation" crashes with mapper

Hello,

This problem started sometime in the last couple of days, after quite a long time of having no problems with my maps. The maps themselves load, but ZMud crashes pretty much whenever a menu in the mapper window closes (e.g. right-click for the context menu, then choose any option, or no option at all)

Additionally, sometimes ZMud crashes entirely, without displaying an error.

What *does* work: #find, switching edit or speedwalk modes, walking around, switching between areas using the left panel, Spreadsheet View, Find, and so on.

The problem is not limited to one map file, either. The problems persist even with a completely different set of files. I've also tried reinstalling ZMud (7.05) from scratch, and the behaviour is the same.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 RC2; MDAC 2.8 is installed.

How do I go about getting this fixed?

This sounds like a problem in one of the MS common controls. I have you installed anything recently that might have had an effect?

VS 2005 Beta 1.

Hmm.... so going with that idea that it might be an updated Common Controls issue (which seems a bit unlikely to me), I used a manifest file to coerce Windows to use the stock XP 6.0 controls. That seemed to make things work, and now it's behaving fine.

Bizarre.... thanks for the tip. :)
