Alias will not work?

I'm playing Achaea, and I wish to make an alias. Even a simple alias such as typing abc to enter the command sleep. For my alias, I put the name as abc and the value sleep. It's so simple, yet when I type abc, the game won't recognize it as an alias. What do I do?

make sure parsing is enabled (the monitor icon directly to the right of the command line)
