No sound in 7.04

I have just tried the 7.04
Unfortunately I don't hear any sound anymore. I fiddled around with the sound preferences and even switched to "old sound driver" setting.

Nothing helps. Also the preview for sounds in the preferences dialog doesn't work.

And yes, I still hear sounds from other applications. Wave and Synth works well for all other stuff. on 6.66 everything is fine too.

Is this happening to other people too?

EDIT:
Actually I just found out, that the path to the default beep/connect/disconnect sounds didn't exist. Never used them though, after correcting the path THEY work now.

However the "beep" (control-G) escape sequence, sent from a mud, won't be mapped to any sound.

Further if I configure any zMud sound to a numeric value (where 0, 16, 32 aso should be a different beep sound from the system speaker) doesnt work. The speaker DOES work for other applications as mentioned above.

Using W2K Server with C-Media onboard sound, fyi.
