Mapping portals

Would someone be able to explain to me briefly how to use portals with the automapper and speedwalking? Up to now, I've been mapping wormholes as non-standard exits, but I still run into problems (like when a room has more than one 'other' exit) and I would also like to be able to associate a cost with a wormhole, which it seems portals can do.

Here's some output from my wormhole movements...

Dark Recreational Room.
This cavern is rather dim and smoky, but stepping through the initial haze, you
can see what seems to be a recreational room. A bar sits against the northern
wall, with a sign on its polished wooden surface reading 'The bartender is
out'. An array of half-filled, multi-colored bottles sits on the shelves behind
the bar and a few stools are lined up next to it, their wooden legs carved
into hissing snakes. The matching table that sits nearby looks rather worn, a
variety of initials carved into the wood. The walls have several holes in them,
acting as cubbies for small candles. The rest of the space is covered with
various posters, with one of these denotes a bear and her cub, the caption
stating, "Achaeans are part of the food chain, too.". On another wall is a
picture of a jaguar posing proudly, yet oddly missing its tail. Looking closer,
you see the tail has been temporarily pinned to its right foot instead. Next to
this image, a small flight of stairs leads up to from the floor, and as your
eyes follow it upwards, you see that instead of some sort of opening at the
end, it's merely stops at a deadend. Small puffs of blue smoke drift around the
room, the product of a strange smelling incense which permeates the area and
makes your head spin. A sigil in the shape of a small, rectangular monolith is
on the ground. A runic totem is planted solidly in the ground.
You see exits leading east and west.

You hurl yourself forwards through the air, and sure enough a swirling vortex
of colours springs into existence to swallow you.
The wormhole spits you out at the other end.
The Offices of the Delosian Lottery.
A long counter with a number of people staffing it stands at the back of the
room. Rows and rows of parchment are tacked to the wall, containing past
lottery results. Old lottery tickets litter the corners of the room. On a small
raised platform in one corner a minstrel strums a harmonious and soothing song,
perhaps to calm the nerves of lottery losers. A small wooden sign is here.
You see exits leading east and southwest (open door).

I'd like to associate a cost with the wormhole because it takes about 3-4 seconds for me to regain equilibrium, before I can move again. How would I do this with portals? Do I have to do anything special to speedwalk with portals?

Thanks,
Larkin

Is there no one out there who knows how to use portals in the automapper? I would greatly appreciate any tips or pointing in the right direction.

Thanks.

It's a fairly new feature. You might be the current expert.
