Oh my god, are you friggin SERIOUS?!

I just wanted to say a few things, and if this is the wrong board, I apologize in advance (see? I just did!).

First of all, a little back story, to get in the correct frame of mind. I'm a mudder. I've been playing various muds since I was about 14. That's almost 10 years. Now, I've not been playing muds CONSISTANTLY for the last 10 years, but only for the majority of the time. Every so often, I'll get burnt out on staying on for 5+ hours at a time, drinking my caffein laden beverage, and I'll take a break. Every time this happens, I swear to myself, "This is the last time I'm going to mud. It's such a waste of time, and I'm sure there are thousands of things I could be doing that's more productive," so I'll quit.

But then there's that itch. Every single mudder knows that itch. (I'm not sure, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say crackheads have something similiar.) So, I've got the itch, and here I am. I show up on this webpage, ready to download zmud again to reach that spot you just can't quite get, and what IN GODS NAME DO I FIND?

I find zMUD. Only, it's not the 16 bit zmud from years back. Oh no, it's zMUD alright, but it's been injecting steriods. Looking over these features of this beast, this makes me want to literally cry. I've used a majority of the different versions, official and beta alike, and this piece of art I'm downloading right now, it gives me a sense of awe, and frankly, it scares the bejesus out of me. How am I going to be able to quit again with this thing leading me?

Bottom line: Zugg... I think you've become my personal hero. I don't know you, I've never met you, and frankly, I doubt that you and I will ever be in the same state as one another, but you have become my full fledged hero. I want to thank you. These programs are friggin awesome. Everything you've done for the Mudding community has been nothing short of a miracle. And now you're developing an email client? If that ordeal is anywhere near 1/100th of what zMUD has turned out to be, well... I don't think words can match what I feel that that is going to do to benefit everyone.

May the best of your past be the worst of your future! Time to go whip me some kobold ass!

OK, you got me good on this one Wink

With the title of your post and some of the stuff I'm using to seeing people post around here, and then the way you started "I'm a mudder...been playing for 14 years"...I was actually getting worried at what kind of flame you were going to post.

Just goes to show that I've been reading too many bug reports and shouldn't assume the worse. Your post was wonderful and I thank you for it. I can imagine that if the last version you saw was the 16-bit version, then you probably DID have quite a shock Smile

Sometimes I wonder how many people I've caused to drop out of school and become a bum because I got them addicted to MUDs with zMUD...then I remember that I shouldn't worry about stuff like that Wink

I hope you have many long years of happy (but responsible) MUDding!

I gotta say, he got me to. I popped in here to ask a question and found myself reading all over. [_SnArF_] I know exactly how you feel. I've been playin for around 8 years now. I started either around 10 or 11. First time I ever heard of muds were from a guy I was sitting next to in a high school computer lab (yes I was in a place I wasn't suppose to be, skipped class in fact :D ). I asked him what he was doin, he said playin a game. So of course being young and liking games I asked him more about it. I'll never forget the first zMUD program that I saw...compared to now it was bare, but it was Still zMUD. I found the program and installed it at home. Used the 30 day eval, then begged one of my Uncles to let me purchase an account for it, my trading was mowing his lawn for the next 2 years. Well I gotta say he got his money's worth and I can definatly say I've gotten mine. Theres been times where I've stayed up for days on ends, goto class come home and mud till the next day and repeat. Now I would be set if I could find a mud that actually lasted more then the 2 yr demographic... Yes I've noticed that most muds collapse after the 2nd year.

But thats enough of my story gotta get back to muddin :D

I do have to say one thing, Zugg if you ever go national in a business that is if you haven't I wouldn't mind working for you even if its bein a secretary or your janitor. You've given me countless hours of enjoyment.
