i'm using windows xp. i installed and licensed zmud with admin rights. i changed zmud preferences for zmud.ini, mudchar.dat, ... to a user directory. when i try to run zmud without admin rights it complains about not being able to write to zmud.ini on c: and freezes.
is there a way to run zmud without admin rights?

You should always write which version of XP you are using. I assume "XP Home". As you have run zMUD as admin and that was the time it created the .ini file only the admin have rights to access it.

How to install zMUD
----------------------
1. Install as the non admin user.
2. Login as admin and run zMUD. Make a note which new files are created in the directory.
3. Directly after startup quit, and remove the created files.
4. Login as user and attempt to start it.

The first time zMUD runs it should install/register to the E-license system but that only works from an admin account.

i am using windows xp pro with sp1.
i am unable to install zmud without admin rights, as i can't even create a new folder in c:programs.

Log back in as admin, right click on the files you moved to the user directory, go to Security tab, and give Full Control permission to the User. You might consider doing the same for the Zmud folder on C:Programs
