Something close to zMUD in Linux?

Sad

Hello all... I realize this post is only indirectly related zMUD, but because I am a licensed zMUD user, and now a non-Micro$oft user, I find myself in a bit of a pickle.

There are good MUD clients for Linux (I've tried: KMuddy, Kmud, Gnome Mud, SMM++, tintin, tinyfugue, etc.) but have never been able to find a client with the same "UMPH" that zMUD has. Does anyone out there know of a GUI (either KDE, GNOME, GTK, anything) MUD client for Linux that has everything zMUD has??

Or better yet, have any Linux users had success running zMUD in Wine or WineX?

HELP ME?!?!?!?!!

Nope, there's nothing that I've found, and I've searched long and hard. Linux MUD clients suck, which is odd since the vast majority of MUD servers run on Linux or Unix.

There was some success with using zMud with WineX. This was stymied by WineX not liking MDAC though. Best I can say is maybe the WineX developers got it fixed, give it a try.

Also, Castaway (I think she is a Guru here...or at least a senior user) has had success with it, try emailing her, or perhaps searching the forums for "castaway" and "linux" or some such.

Indeedy, some older versions work in WineX out of the box. For newer versions with MDAC you need crossover office+IE, or so I've heard.. Try searching the forums, there was a long one about linux a while back.

I've not tried it in a while, VMWare works fine for me :)
