Macro's / Special characters

Hmm I didn't know how to label the title of this question, so if you got here, thanks.

I want to either force special charactors through the program, or make a macro that enters the "~" char before.

OK what I'm trying to do. I am in the process of building a zone, and when implimenting colors, I have to enter "<r>" for dark red or "<W>" for bright white and "~" to terminate data entry.

so when I try to enter "A <r>red snake<1>.~" it obviously comes out wrong.

I am aware that I could type in "A ~<r~>red snake~<1~>.~~" but that becomes a bit of a pain when entering a lot of text, and if I forget one bit, it can mean typing in a lot of stuff over again.

So, can I ignore the special chars, and send them through, just like telnet? or can I make a macro.

I tried making a macro "CTRL-R" to enter "~<r~>", but I cannot make a macro with the "r" key ?!

So, congratulations if you read all the post, and thankyou for your time, and thanks in advance for any help.

Regards
Marts

As long as you are aware that this could potentially mess up any existing scripts you may have, you could simply uncheck 'Alow < > for expansion..' (or something similar to that) in the preferences, and change the quote character from a tilde (~) to something else (a backslash, for example).

That would allow you to enter the command just like you'd want to.
A <r>red snake<1>.~

There's a computer icon next to the command line. If you click on it, it will turn off parsing. Click on it again to turn parsing back on.
