trouble getting 6.62 to start

i have been using v6.62 with no problems
playing Gemstone3 i go to change characters and zmudd crashed
can only get zmudd to show the initalising screen gets as far as sound,characters then just dissapears before the mudd selection window (should) appears.
have
uninstalled/reinstalled
unlicenced/relicenced
unlicenced/uninstall/reinstall/relicenced
ran virus checker and system repair
1.2Ghz pentium 4,256RAM, windows XP
please any help, i carnt see anything in the help files.

got it working , after uninstalling reinstalling a couple of times, used norton cleanup to uninstall this must have got rid of what ever was corrupted because upon reinstalling everything seems to be working again
