6.61 ZMud starts running real slow |
When starting up ZMud 6.61 on a Windows XP computer, everything is nice and fast, real good.
Until I open up an Internet Explorer web browser.
Then my entire computer gets slow until I close ZMud. This did not happen with 6.40, so I was wondering if this might be a problem in the new version, or if I'm just overdue for a format/reinstall. *sparkle*

There hasn't been any problems reported with using IE along zMUD, and I for one don't get such slowness.

- I've upgraded to 6.62, same thing is happening.
- I've been able to eliminate IE as the "cause" of the problem. It must've just been a coincidence that I had opened IE and the slowness started.
- When the slowness occurs, in Windows Task Manager, I can see the memory usage of ZMud increase by 10 times to as much 200MB. The only way to lose the slowness is to close ZMud and restart it. And it takes about 1 or 2 full minutes to close.
Wish I could provide more info, this seems to be a wacky problem...
thanx

Its slow with walking or with everything? if it's only with walking...close the map, that seems to solve the problem here (and by a few friends i know)

Go to http://www.zuggsoft.com/data and update the MDAC/ADO software on your system. Also, if you have a huge map file, the first time you speedwalk zMUD will try to load the entire map into memory. You can control this in the Map Properties Speedwalking options in the automapper.

I updated to the latest MDAC and JET, but it did not resolve the problem.
I have done much investigation into this, and determined the cause is a memory leak. I'm going to email support with all the information on this one.
Thanks. :)
